Il laboratorio di attività ideato da Luisa Gardini e promosso da IUNO STUDIO è pensato per potenziare la libertà espressiva dell’infanzia attraverso il rapporto con la materia, nello specifico la manipolazione della creta, l’uso della grafite e del colore.

Il laboratorio non intende trasmettere delle tecniche artistiche: al contrario, nasce dall’esigenza di favorire il linguaggio infantile, frutto di un’espressione innata, libera da sovrastrutture e antecedente a ogni normazione.  

L’uso di una comunicazione autentica, non condizionata dall’educazione visiva, è infatti inversamente proporzionale allo sviluppo di capacità verbali e scrittorie: più il bambino acquisisce queste ultime, meno sembra essere in grado di astrarre e rielaborare in maniera personale la realtà. Il mondo inizia a stereotiparsi attraverso delle regole e delle immagini predefinite.

I lavori eseguiti saranno raccolti in una cartella individuale che sarà consegnata a fine percorso. L’assenza di conferme sull’operato da una parte garantisce lo sviluppo di un linguaggio totalmente autonomo, dall’altra spinge alla replica di quanto effettuato nelle ore trascorse in laboratorio, incoraggiando alla sperimentazione e incentivando la familiarizzazione con i materiali utilizzati. Ai genitori verranno fornite delle brevi indicazioni per scegliere un materiale idoneo da usare anche a casa.

Favorire la completa libertà di azione e visione significa quindi tentare di preservare la propria individualità, il nucleo espressivo che ci caratterizza, instillando una sicurezza nella pratica che si ottiene astenendosi dal giudizio estetico e contrastando la ricerca di approvazione. Per questo motivo i partecipanti verranno assecondati, non istruiti, nella realizzazione delle proprie opere, evitando di assumere potenziali atteggiamenti intrusivi.

Si lavorerà con la creta, la grafite e il colore partendo da esperienze concrete di tipo percettivo, motorio e manipolativo, intese come momenti per dar spazio ad un immaginario tutto da costruire, senza porsi obiettivi finalizzati alla riproduzione di una forma.

Luisa Gardini in parallelo alla sua attività artistica, dagli anni ’80 ha creato dei laboratori per l’infanzia presso la Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, presso scuole materne ed elementari Montessori, e condotto corsi regionali per la formazione di educatori scolastici.

Children’s Workshop: Luisa Gardini

Children do not do what they see, but what they know.

The workshop, imagined by Luisa Gardini and promoted by IUNO STUDIO, is designed to enhance the expressive freedom of childhood through the relationship with matter, specifically the manipulation of clay, the use of graphite, and color.

The workshop is not intended to teach artistic technique, on the contrary, it arises from the need to encourage children's language, the result of an innate expression, free from superstructures and prior to any standardization.

The use of authentic communication, not conditioned by visual education, is in fact inversely proportional to the development of verbal and writing skills— the more children acquire the latter, the less they seem to be able to abstract and re-elaborate reality in a personal way. The world begins to stereotype itself through predefined rules and images.

Artworks from the workshop will be collected in an individual folder that will be delivered at the end of the course. The absence of confirmation on the work on the one hand guarantees the development of a totally autonomous language, on the other it pushes the replication of what was done during the time spent in the workshop, encouraging experimentation and familiarization with the materials used. Parents will be provided with brief indications to choose a suitable material to use at home as well.

Fostering complete freedom of action and vision therefore means trying to preserve one's individuality, the expressive core that characterizes us, instilling a certainty in the practice that is obtained by refraining from aesthetic judgment and opposing the search for approval. For this reason, the participants will be indulged and uneducated in the realization of their works, while avoiding the assumption of potentially intrusive attitudes.

The children will work with clay, graphite, and color starting from concrete experiences of a perceptive, motor, and manipulative type, intended as moments to give space to the imaginary without setting goals aimed at the reproduction of a form.

Since the 1980s, Luisa Gardini, in parallel to her artistic activity, has created workshops for children at the National Gallery of Modern Art, at Montessori nursery and elementary schools, and conducted regional courses for the training of school educators.
